Missouri homeowners quote preparation
Organize the facts before the quote conversation
A complete, accurate property description helps an insurance professional ask better questions and identify what needs underwriting review.
Property details to gather
- Address, year built, square footage, and construction type
- Roof age, roof material, and available replacement records
- Heating, electrical, plumbing, and water-heater information
- Renovations, additions, finished basement, and attached or detached structures
- Smoke alarms, security systems, deadbolts, sprinklers, or other protective devices
- Information a carrier requests about fire protection, including access or distance questions when relevant.
- Pool, trampoline, wood stove, animals, or other property features
- Mortgagee, closing, or effective-date information when applicable
Household and use questions
Who lives there?
An insurer may ask about occupancy, property use and condition, roof and systems, prior losses, fire protection, renovation, animals, pools, wood-burning appliances, rental or business activity, and similar facts. The questions and their effect vary by insurer and underwriting program.
How is the property used?
Disclose home-business, rental, vacancy, renovation, farm or animal exposures, special property, and mobile/manufactured-home facts when relevant. They may require separate underwriting, another form, or another product. References to landlord, renters, umbrella, or other products do not confirm Southern Shield availability or eligibility.
Tell the producer about occupancy, rental or business use, vacancy, renovation, farm or animal exposures, pools, wood-burning appliances, special property, and mobile/manufactured-home features when relevant. These facts may require separate underwriting, a different form, or another product; mentioning them does not confirm eligibility or availability.
What needs special discussion?
Bring questions about jewelry, collections, tools, equipment, watercraft, home electronics, or other property that may have special limits.
Current insurance and decision questions
A current declarations page can help compare limits, deductibles, endorsements, and insurer information. Ask Southern Shield how to provide it if it is needed. Do not send policy documents through the public form or ordinary email.
Ask about the proposed policy
- Which policy form and endorsements are included?
- How were dwelling and other-property limits developed?
- Which deductibles apply?
- How is personal property settled after a covered loss?
Ask about boundaries
- How are water backup and flooding treated?
- Are business, rental, or vacant-property uses excluded or limited?
- What special limits apply to valuables?
- Which changes must be reported after coverage begins?
Do not send Social Security numbers, payment information, passwords, policy documents, claim photos, or detailed loss narratives through the public website form or ordinary email.
Ready for a homeowners conversation?
Southern Shield can help organize information, review proposal differences, and discuss options that may be available. The insurer controls eligibility, underwriting, terms, issuance, and binding. A website request or discussion does not create coverage.
